Analysis of Raw Materials of Plastic Clothes Hangers

The main raw materials of plastic hangers are PS, ABS and Pp, and the auxiliary materials are PVC \ EVA and silicone.

PS plastic, also known as polystyrene plastic, has a density of 1.04 ~ 1.09g / cm3, will sink in water, shrinkage rate of 0.4%, stable size, and is a transparent and shiny granular solid. PS transparency is 88% to 92%, which is the most transparent plastic. It is used for highly transparent hangers. The PS material is easy to burn. It will continue to burn after leaving the fire. The yellow flame and black smoke will emit a large odor. PS material is prone to yellowing and fading under long-term exposure to sunlight, and its abrasion resistance is not as good as ABS and PP, but PS material has good thermoplastic fluidity, good processability, easy coloring, and good dimensional stability. It is especially suitable for injection molding. The price is moderate, so plastic hangers are most commonly used with this material. PS is brittle when used alone, especially in low temperature environment. Adding a small amount of other materials such as butadiene (K glue) can significantly reduce brittleness and improve impact toughness. The mechanical properties of this impact PS are greatly improved. We will also add this material as appropriate to improve the toughness of PS. The surface of PS plastic hangers can be flocking and electroplated, but it is not suitable for spraying paint and bronze effects.

ABS plastic is an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer with a density of 1.05g / cm3. It will sink in water with a shrinkage of 0.4% to 0.8% and a stable size. When ABS burns, it will produce a yellow flame with black smoke, which emits a strong alkaline smell similar to rubber, and cannot be extinguished automatically. ABS has high strength, good toughness, easy processing and forming, and has outstanding physical mechanical and thermal properties. It is a engineering plastic with a wide range of uses. The surface of ABS plastic hangers can be either flocking and electroplating, or can be sprayed with oil. It is suitable for high-quality effects such as touch paint, bronze and wood grain. Although ABS has many of the above advantages, it is also easy to age under the effect of UV light, but it is still better than PP. ABS material is the most expensive of the three materials, so price-sensitive customers generally choose PS material.

PPp plastic, also known as polypropylene plastic or pleated plastic, has a density of 0.9-0.91g / cm3 and floats in water. The biggest feature is that it has excellent resistance to bending and can be folded repeatedly without damage or even deformation. However, its shrinkage is 1.8% to 2.5%, which is much higher than PS and ABS, so PP products tend to shrink and deform during cooling. The PP material is easy to burn, and continues to burn after leaving the fire. The upper end of the flame is yellow and the lower end is blue. There is little or no black smoke, melting dripping and petroleum smell. PP has good heat resistance and can be used for a long time at 100 degrees, but it has poor cold resistance and becomes brittle at low temperatures. Therefore, 1% to 4% polyethylene is usually used as a raw material to form a copolymer to enhance cold resistance. The weather resistance of PP is not as good as ABS, and it is easy to photoaging. Polypropylene has low transparency, low gloss, and low rigidity, so common white and translucent plastic hangers are produced for PP materials. PP material has excellent chemical stability, resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, is not suitable for flocking and oil injection, otherwise it will not adhere well, but it can be electroplated. PP material is the most friendly to people and the environment, and can be used in daily necessities such as high temperature resistant baby bottles, water cups, and plastic lunch boxes. PP material is more wear-resistant and scratch-resistant than PS material. It is the most cost-effective material. Of the three materials, PP is the cheapest.

On the auxiliary materials, PVC is usually added with a plasticizer to make it softer. It is a relatively economical raw material for the production of non-slip rubber accessories installed on the shoulders of hangers. EVA and silicone are also used as raw materials for hanger accessories, which are not used as much as PVC.

Through the above comparison, we can choose the appropriate suitable hanger material according to the positioning of the required product.
